British psychedelic rock group, formed in 1965. The original members were Syd Barrett (1946– ), Roger Waters (1944– ), Richard Wright (1945– ), and Nick Mason (1945– ). Dave Gilmour (1944– ) joined the band in 1968. Their albums include The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and The Wall (1979).
Their debut album was Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). This was followed by, among others, Relics (1971), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), and The Final Cut (1983). A comeback album The Division Bell (1994) was followed by the live album P.U.L.S.E. (1995).
